ARTIST / FACILITATOR FOR LUISNE ART PROJECT

THE LUISNE ART PROJECT IN BALLINROBE, COUNTY MAYO IS CURRENTLY LOOKING
TO ENGAGE AN ARTIST/FACILITATOR TO FACILITATE WEEKLY VISUAL ART
WORKSHOPS IN TACÚ FAMILY RESOURCE CENTRE (FRC), MAIN ST. BALLINROBE
CO. MAYO.

ABOUT THE LUISNE ART PROJECT

The Luisne Art Project is an arts and disability project developed for
members of the Crann Mór Centre, Ballinrobe who meet weekly for
facilitated workshops at the Tacú FRC, Ballinrobe.

The project was developed in * by a group of
artists in collaboration with the Crann Mór Centre, Ballinrobe. The
aim of the programme has been to establish a long-term art project of
quality which responds to the talents and needs of the participants of
the centre. It recognises the importance of art and creativity as a
positive and powerful force in the lives of the individuals.

The project embraces a very particular process and methodology.
Facilitators offer support and mentoring in a creative & artistic
environment where exploration and creativity are at the heart. Artist
participants are enabled through skilled facilitation to experience
visual art as creators. The artist participants are given the space to
develop artistically in an organic way. Process rather than product
alone has priority.

The project is funded by Mayo County Council Arts Service, the Arts
Council and Western Care with support from Tacú FRC.

ARTIST / FACILITATOR – THE ROLE

The Artist / Facilitator will be responsible for planning and
delivering weekly arts workshops for the Luisne Art group at the Tacú
Family Resource Centre, Ballinrobe.

Workshops are on Thursdays and take place throughout the year (subject
to funding) except for Western Care annual leave periods (usually
April (1 week) August (3 weeks) October (1 week) & December (2 weeks).

The Artist/Facilitator will report to the Luisne Steering Group.

THE ARTIST / FACILITATOR WILL:

* Plan and deliver weekly arts workshops in a non-judgmental,
non-directive and supportive manner, considering the needs of
individual group members.
* Provide necessary art materials for the group, in line with
available materials budget.
* Create a welcoming space that inspires creativity & curiosity.
* Commit to achieving the highest possible quality of engagement.
* Maintain consistent communication with project partners (Mayo
County Council, Arts Council, Western Care and TACÚ FRC) the Luisne
Co-ordinator and other facilitators, as and when required.
* Be open to opportunities for Professional Development such as
training courses, symposiums, conferences, and other such events.
(This would be agreed in advance, funded separately and most likely in
addition to the commitment of the weekly workshops)
* Abide by the Luisne voluntary code of conduct.

THE ARTIST WILL ALSO BE REQUIRED TO

* Liaise with Western Care staff, support workers and volunteers who
support Luisne Artists.
* Prepare project update reports and attend Luisne steering group
meetings (usually once a quarter).
* Contribute ideas to project proposals.
* Contribute to and complete monitoring & evaluation of the project,
as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

* A third level visual arts qualification from a recognised
institution.
* An understanding of contemporary arts practice.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

* Experience of working in the area of arts and disability.
* Experience of working on participatory arts workshops and
projects.
* Group facilitation and teaching.

EXPERIENCE THAT IS BENEFICIAL, BUT NOT ESSENTIAL

* Relevant qualifications such as first aid, health, and safety etc.
* The ability to work with digital platforms such as Microsoft, Zoom
etc.

SKILLS

* Demonstrate good communication and inter-personal skills.
* Demonstrate the ability to work to a budget.
* Demonstrate a positive attitude toward people with disabilities.

RENUMERATION:

A fee of € * per workshop is available. This
includes all costs associated with facilitating the weekly workshop
(e.g., preparation work, ongoing informal documentation, facilitation
of workshops, travel etc.)
